In some people the thirst for power seems limitless. They want constantly to increase their empire and their zone of influence. Dictators and mafia chiefs are the most obvious examples of this frantic desire to govern others, to be like God and to be subject to nobody. Yet a little dictator is hidden inside each one of us. We all tend to want to exert power and control others. It may only be over a small group-the people who work for us, our families and friends-but the dictator is there nonetheless, ready to burst forth in order to rule, control, and be superior.
